Congressman Davis Presents $500000 To Maysville
Congressman Geoff Davis presented a check for two grants totaling $500,000 to the Housing Authority of Maysville.
Maysville will use the $250,000 from the Resident Opportunities and Self-Sufficiency (ROSS) Family and Homeownership Program for the improvement of supportive services and activities that guide residents towards self-sufficiency.
They will use the $250,000 from the ROSS Elderly/Persons with Disabilities Program to provide key services like transportation, meals and a pharmacy program that help those residents to continue living independently.
“The Housing Authority of Maysville is an asset to our community,” said Davis.
“These funds will enable Maysville to expand services that help residents to lead more independent and successful lives. The staff at the housing authority is to be commended for their admirable work.”
“We are thrilled to receive this grant and very happy that we will not be forced to scale back our services,” said Dave Sugarbaker of the Housing Authority of Maysville.
“I was also pleased to learn that Congressman Geoff Davis recognizes the challenges of rural homelessness and is working to update the federal definition to better serve the homeless in our community.”
The ROSS Grant program was established by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to provide money for job training and supportive services that aid residents of public housing in their transition from welfare to work.
The ROSS Grant also provides critical funding for elderly or disabled public housing residents so that they can continue to live independently, saving taxpayer dollars on expensive nursing home costs.

Bill O’Reilly may be a fucking idiot. Okay he is. But MSNBC’s answer to him is Keith Olbermann? With childish segments labeling people he finds distasteful the “Worst Person in the World”? Pathetic.

There is a history of racist connotations associated with the word “boy”.

Olbermann has in recent past declared HIMSELF the “Worst person in the world”. I call that open minded. Smart guy, and as a registered republican, my take is that KO always is well grounded with facts, intelligence and historical perspective. When I watch OLRY or anyone else on Fox News, I want to retch. The spin is palpable. The perpetuation of ignorance is obvious. Trailer parks all over the red states eat it up.Oh, and that women, well meaning as she may be is a moron. That Atheist would probably defend her right to her religious beliefs to his/her last breath as I would. That is democracy. She would rather dance on his/her grave. SHE IS THE DANGER TO THE CHILDREN of a thinking republic, but most of us are not thinking much.

I think it’s just a signature part of the Worst Person In The World segment.edit: Apparently there was at least one WPITW segment without the music - see the Deviations section.

Yep. I called both her offices to complain. We don’t need politicians who are part of the “American Taliban” (AKA religious extremists).

Hey give the guy a break he screwed up. And by screwed up I mean he didn’t realize the tape recorders were on.

I’m not trying to defend this guy or his comment but how does calling someone ‘boy’ automatically make you a racist, bigot and ignorant. There are several different contexts that comment can fall under.

Thomas Jefferson in his later years was often accused of the same thing by his opponents. Though today religious leaders often claim he was inspired by God to write our founding documents. We always understand when religious people “demonize” people and things, but rarely do we stop to consider how they also “sanctify”, any good respectable human being who made it through life successfully as one of their own. I love how TJ says, “Nature’s God”.

I have a dream. A dream that the only person called “boy” is whoever is driving the car that’s just been pulled over by the Highway Patrol.I have a dream! A dream that men of all colors and creeds will someday be asked, “Where’s the fire, boy?”

Her ignorance also shows that she thinks atheists want to destroy.I am an atheist and I don’t want to destroy anything. If anything if this is all there is I want to preserve it. There are no second chances.

What exactly are the “most christians” in deeds? The whole thing is a non sequitor. You dont need bronze-age fairy tales to be a good person, and being a good person doesnt make you a “Christian”.

i don’t mind Olbermann’s style as i believe he’s totally sincere about every word he says. This is genuine emotion. Something i don’t get from almost every other host i see.
